Last week, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and paint something completely different. So I picked up a copy of Linda Ravenscroft’s book, “How to Draw and Paint Fairyland: A Step-by-Step Guide for Creating the World of Fairies,” got down to work, and this is the end result. Watercolors on cold pressed Acquarello Artistico paper by Fabriano.

  2. I like her, too, for a change. I found the small facial details particularly challenging to paint, but I’m pleased with the results. Greta suggested a combination of fairies and flowers might be fun. I may give that a try.

    • Thank you, Beth. She was a real departure for me. Much more detailed and close work than I normally do. Made me realize that I really need to get some bifocals, as I couldn’t work on this painting at night due to glare from the artificial light and my aging eyes!
