Floral and Fairy Watercolor Paintings
Here’s my version of the same painting my daughter finished earlier this week–a watercolor lesson featured in Fiona Peart’s book, “Tulips in Watercolor.” Watercolors on hot pressed Acquarello Artistico paper by Fabriano.

My daughter and I are really enjoying our joint painting sessions. Here’s a peek at her latest painting–a project she picked out of my new book “Tulips in Watercolor” by Fiona Peart. She was experimenting with a much looser style today. It was a speedy painting; it took her less than an hour to complete but the results are stunning. Okay, I may be a bit biased. I like her use of quick, short strokes to give the impression of feathers and the intensity and vibrancy of her colors. I enjoy watching her paint and seeing the differences in our painting styles. Colored pencils on Canson Mi Teintes pastel paper. I wanted to share this amazing colored pencil painting of a champion warmblood that my daughter created because, well, she’s my daughter and I think she’s awesome. The level of detail and realism she’s achieved on the horse’s bridal are truly remarkable; it really looks like leather. You can view more of her work here.

The drawing was a surprise gift from my daughter a few years ago. I just found it on an old computer and thought it was time I put it to good use on my blog. I think it’s especially appropriate for use as my avatar since Piggy always manages to make an appearance in my photos. I think he enjoys the limelight.
